Q) How often is the map updated?
A) The traffic flow is updated at loadtime and upon movement outside the initial map view, or upon refresh of the page. Any incident markers are checked for updates approximately every 5-10 minutes, but you need to reload the page to load any new updates; the data provided may still be the same status/view as before. Information shown is as only reliable as how it is reported to us.

Q) The roads are backed up or closed, but the map does not show the reason why, what's the deal?
A) Municipal traffic monitors or GPS trackers may not be available, could be offline, or reports and alerts are not syndicated to media outside of the area to use on the map. This is especially true for rural areas. You are encouraged to leave a road conditions report to help others.

Q) I see traffic alerts in the box below for the state, but they aren't related to the area I'm in?
A) We attempt to display alerts as specific to the area as possible, however in some cases the data we receive will only allow us to provide it by county or even statewide.

Q) Are you an official source of traffic information?
A) We are not an official source of traffic or real-time data. We have contracts and licenses to display certain up-to-date information that comes direct from some DOTs in various states, and the traffic flow on the maps is provided by Google or MapQuest. However, the data shown here should only be used for light informational and reference purposes and not to make critical decisions. Your safest option on the web is to use your state-run traffic website, or to call the DOT traffic line for your state, local authorities, or the state's 511 number if available.

Road closed to make repairs on bridge over Buffalo Creek.
DETOUR: McLeansville Road (SR 2819) to Dicks Mill Road (SR 2820) to Huffine Mill Road (SR 2770). Length of detour is 2.8 miles.

Right lane of Bryan Blvd will be closed for installation of ground mounted signs

Lanes Closed on SR-2132 In Summerfield
Various lanes of Stafford Mill Rd will be closed at various times at Alcorn Rd for installation of an all-way stop.

Congestion on SR-4121 In Greensboro
The Greensboro Coliseum Complex will be hosting a graduation commencement event with expected attendance to exceed 13,500 patrons. Congestion is expected to increase in the vicinity of the Coliseum during the morning hours prior to and at the conclusion of the event. In anticipation of an increased traffic volume surrounding this event, Coliseum personnel and the Greensboro Police Department will be managing major intersections in the vicinity of the Complex. Variable messaging systems located along highways I-40, I-85, I-73, and US-29 will be displaying messages to advise motorists of traffic information. The Coliseum Complex, GPD, GDOT, and NCDOT advise all patrons to plan to arrive at least one hour early and carpooling is strongly encouraged. It is also recommended that commuters not attending these events should avoid the Coliseum/High Point Road area during the earlier morning hours if possible.

Road Closed with Detour on SR-3355 South East of Greensboro
Layton Rd. in southeast Guilford County will be closed from April 14, 2014 until August 15, 2014 so that crews can replace the existing bridge.  All traffic will be detoured.
DETOUR: Signed detours will take traffic from the Smithwood end of Layton Rd. to Smithwood Church Road, to Staley Lake Road, to Coble's Church Road, back to Layton Rd. Traffic from the Coble's Church Road end will follow the detour in the reverse order.

Lane Closed on I-73 Near Greensboro
The right lane is closed in each direction as part of the High Point Road widening project and the construction of the new interchange.

Road Closed on SR-2128 Near Summerfield
Bunch road will be closed due to maintenance to the bridge over Reedy Fork Creek.
DETOUR: Take Stanley Huff Road to Pleasant Ridge Road to return to Bunch Road.

Road Closed with Detour on SR-1193 In High Point
Baker Road will be closed at the bridge over Richland Creek in order for crews to replace the existing bridge.  The bridge is located between Business 85/US 29/70 and Cox Avenue.
DETOUR: Baker Road traffic will be detoured to Business 85/US 29/70,to Brentwood Avenue, to Townsend Avenue, and back to Baker Rd. Detour will be reversed for opposite direction travel.

Road Closed on SR-1612 Near Greensboro
Fairfax Road will be closed permanently at Roland Road as part of the High Point Road/Jamestown Bypass project.  Crews will start construction of the new location of High Point Road in this area. 
DETOUR: Hilltop Road to High Point Road to Roland Road will be the detour.

Roland Road will be closed permanently at Fairfax Road as part of the High Point Road/Jamestown Bypass project. Crews will start construction of the new location of High Point Road in this area.
DETOUR: Cromwell Road to Hilltop Road to High Point Road will be the detour.

Congestion on US-220 Near Summerfield
US 220 is under construction to widen the road from SR 2182 (Horse Pen Creek Road) to the existing intersection of NC 68 in Rockingham County.
