Q) How often is the map updated?
A) The traffic flow is updated at loadtime and upon movement outside the initial map view, or upon refresh of the page. Any incident markers are checked for updates approximately every 5-10 minutes, but you need to reload the page to load any new updates; the data provided may still be the same status/view as before. Information shown is as only reliable as how it is reported to us.

Q) The roads are backed up or closed, but the map does not show the reason why, what's the deal?
A) Municipal traffic monitors or GPS trackers may not be available, could be offline, or reports and alerts are not syndicated to media outside of the area to use on the map. This is especially true for rural areas. You are encouraged to leave a road conditions report to help others.

Q) I see traffic alerts in the box below for the state, but they aren't related to the area I'm in?
A) We attempt to display alerts as specific to the area as possible, however in some cases the data we receive will only allow us to provide it by county or even statewide.

Q) Are you an official source of traffic information?
A) We are not an official source of traffic or real-time data. We have contracts and licenses to display certain up-to-date information that comes direct from some DOTs in various states, and the traffic flow on the maps is provided by Google or MapQuest. However, the data shown here should only be used for light informational and reference purposes and not to make critical decisions. Your safest option on the web is to use your state-run traffic website, or to call the DOT traffic line for your state, local authorities, or the state's 511 number if available.

Congestion on US-220 Near Summerfield
US 220 is under construction to widen the road from SR 2182 (Horse Pen Creek Road) to the existing intersection of NC 68 in Rockingham County.

Congestion on US-220 In Summerfield
Both directions of traffic will be shifted onto the new southbound lanes to allow the contractor to build 2 bridges, 2 culverts and the new northbound lanes. This will effect the interchange at US-220 and NC-65 and US-220 and US-158.

Congestion on SR-4121 In Greensboro
The Greensboro Coliseum Complex will be hosting an evening event which is expected to draw 12,000 patrons to the area and surrounding roadways.  In anticipation of the increased traffic volume surrounding this event, Coliseum personnel and the Greensboro Police Department will be managing major intersections in the vicinity of the Complex.  Variable messaging systems located along highways I-40, I-85, I-73 and US-29 will be displaying messages to advise motorists with traffic information.The Greensboro Coliseum Complex, GPD, GDOT and the North Carolina DOT advise all patrons to plan to arrive at least one hour early and carpooling is strongly encouraged.

Smith Rowe Inc. will be replacing the bridge on Thacker Dairy Road just west of Wades Store Road.
DETOUR: Wades Store Road to Alamance Church Road to Andrews Dairy Road.

Road Closed with Detour on SR-1131 East of High Point
Burnette's Chapel Rd. will be closed between Kivett Drive and Drake Road on October 7, 2014 in order to replace the existing bridge.  Road should re-open in early January.
DETOUR: Detour Route will be Kivett Drive to Drake Rd. and back to Burnette's Chapel Rd.

Congestion on NC-68 North of Oak Ridge
This is a High Hazard Safety Project intended to improve the safety of the area around and between E Harrell Road and Bartonshire Road on NC 68. NC 68 will be widened to increase safety, E Harrell Road will be relocated to the South, and the intersection of W Harrell Road and NC 68 will be permanently closed. Please be aware of flagmen during construction.

Due to multiple operations in the area for the construction of the new I-73 (NC-68/US-220 Connector), anticipate crews working 6 days a week along the project limits.

The right lane is closed in each direction as part of the High Point Road widening project and the construction of the new interchange.
