FAQs
Q) How often is the map updated?
A) The traffic flow is updated at loadtime and upon movement outside the initial map view, or upon refresh of the page. Any incident markers are checked for updates approximately every 5-10 minutes, but you need to reload the page to load any new updates; the data provided may still be the same status/view as before. Information shown is as only reliable as how it is reported to us.

Q) The roads are backed up or closed, but the map does not show the reason why, what's the deal?
A) Municipal traffic monitors or GPS trackers may not be available, could be offline, or reports and alerts are not syndicated to media outside of the area to use on the map. This is especially true for rural areas. You are encouraged to leave a road conditions report to help others.

Q) I see traffic alerts in the box below for the state, but they aren't related to the area I'm in?
A) We attempt to display alerts as specific to the area as possible, however in some cases the data we receive will only allow us to provide it by county or even statewide.

Q) Are you an official source of traffic information?
A) We are not an official source of traffic or real-time data. We have contracts and licenses to display certain up-to-date information that comes direct from some DOTs in various states, and the traffic flow on the maps is provided by Google or MapQuest. However, the data shown here should only be used for light informational and reference purposes and not to make critical decisions. Your safest option on the web is to use your state-run traffic website, or to call the DOT traffic line for your state, local authorities, or the state's 511 number if available.

Description: DIFFICULT DRIVING CONDITIONS on NM 134, mile marker 9-18 (Washington Pass). Road is icy in shaded areas and will remain until at least Friday, 1/30/15.. Visibility is good. Please drive with caution, reduce speed and obey all posted traffic signs. This event will be updated as conditions change.

Title: New Mexico 72 eastbound and westbound from mile marker 0 to mile marker 36
Description: SEASONAL CLOSURE: NM 72 from mile post 0 to mile post 36 (Raton to Folsom), winter seasonal road closure. Gates will be locked during the winter months. Please find an alternative route.

Title: US 550 southbound at mile marker 2
Description: Friday 1/30 at 9 pm until Monday 2/2 at 5 am (Qualcon) U_S 5_50 both directions over the river bridge (Bernalillo) will be reduced to a single lane (at various times one direction at a time) for bridge maintenance. Expect delays!! Upon completion of the physical work a curing time (approx. 24 hours) is required. During this time the lane closure will remain in place with no visible activity. Environmental restrictions required this project to occur during the late fall and made night work to lessen traffic impacts not possible.

Description: White Sands Missile Range periodically has missile firings over US 70 and/or US 380. During the firings the road or roads will be temporarily closed. Please call 575-678-1178 for daily information on possible closure dates and times for firings. This is a permanent alert and will not be updated regularly. (dm)

Title: New Mexico 47 at mile marker 4
Description: Wednesday 1/28 from 4 am to 9 pm (Road Safe Traffic Systems) N_M 47 both directions at mile marker 4.5 (just north of U_S 60 at the railroad crossing) will be closed for railroad crossing repair. Detour posted using N_M 3_04 and U_S 60.

Title: New Mexico 41 from mile marker 55 to mile marker 56 Galisteo
Description: The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) construction work on NM 41 near the Village of Galisteo between mile post 55.53 and mile post 56.1 on April 21, 2014. This work will include the replacement of two bridges and roadway improvements between the two bridges. The bridge work will be located at the San Cristobal Arroyo Bridge south of the Village of Galisteo and the Galisteo Creek Bridge on the southern edge of the Village of Galisteo. Traffic Impacts: Project has been placed on Winter Suspension until Spring of 2015. NM 41 roadway- The northbound and southbound traffic will travel through one lane. during this time. NO oversize vehicles or commercial loads are allowed through the work zone, and NO oversize loads allowed between Stanley and South of County Road 42. There is a 10 width restriction. Motorists traveling south on NM 41 can use U.S. 285 south to Clines Corners to I-40. Motorists traveling north on NM 41 can use I-40 east to Clines Corners to U.S. 285 north. The detours are equivalent to approximately 21 miles. Project anticipated to be completed June 2015; weather permitting
