Q) How often is the map updated?
A) The traffic flow is updated at loadtime and upon movement outside the initial map view, or upon refresh of the page. Any incident markers are checked for updates approximately every 5-10 minutes, but you need to reload the page to load any new updates; the data provided may still be the same status/view as before. Information shown is as only reliable as how it is reported to us.Q) The roads are backed up or closed, but the map does not show the reason why, what's the deal?
A) Municipal traffic monitors or GPS trackers may not be available, could be offline, or reports and alerts are not syndicated to media outside of the area to use on the map. This is especially true for rural areas. You are encouraged to leave a road conditions report to help others.Q) I see traffic alerts in the box below for the state, but they aren't related to the area I'm in?
A) We attempt to display alerts as specific to the area as possible, however in some cases the data we receive will only allow us to provide it by county or even statewide.Q) Are you an official source of traffic information?
A) We are not an official source of traffic or real-time data. We have contracts and licenses to display certain up-to-date information that comes direct from some DOTs in various states, and the traffic flow on the maps is provided by Google or MapQuest. However, the data shown here should only be used for light informational and reference purposes and not to make critical decisions. Your safest option on the web is to use your state-run traffic website, or to call the DOT traffic line for your state, local authorities, or the state's 511 number if available.

Lanes Closed on US-21 North of Charlotte
Lanes closed during construction times to construct sidewalk and medians.

Road Closed with Detour on SR-1700 North of Beulaville
The North Carolina Department of Transportation will close SR 1700 (Sarecta Road) with a signed detour beginning Monday, August 28th, 2017 at 7:00am through Friday, December 1st, 2017 at 5:00pm, weather permitting. The closure is required for a bridge replacement over Gum Branch (Duplin Bridge # 155). The NCDOT reminds motorists to STAY ALERT, travel with caution, watch signs for construction information, obey the posted speed limit, and allow extra travel time.
DETOUR: North on NC 241, then West on SR 1736 (Baker Road), then South West on SR 1710 (Sumner Road) back to SR 1700 (Sarecta Road).

Road Closed with Detour on SR-1601 Near Charlotte
– Construction of a roundabout at Moores Chapel Road and Rhyne Road in west Charlotte will require closing the intersection, starting Monday, Oct. 16, weather permitting. The contractor started the project last month, which also includes improvements to the loop ramps from Interstate 485 to Moores Chapel Road. The intersection will be closed up to six weeks. During the closure, drivers are encouraged to follow the posted detours.
DETOUR: Rhyne Road: Motorists will be detoured to Moores Chapel Road, Sam Wilson Road, U.S. 74 East, the I-485 Inner Loop and Mount Holly Road (N.C. 27) back to Rhyne Road.
Moores Chapel Road: Motorists will be detoured along the I-485 Outer Loop, U.S. 74 West and Sam Wilson Road back to Moores Chapel Road.
The contractor will also close the ramp from the I-485 Outer Loop to Moores Chapel Road. Drivers will be able to exit the interstate and go back over I-485 on Moores Chapel Road, but will not be able to go in the other direction toward Rhyne Road.
Motorists wishing to get to the U.S. National Whitewater Center are encouraged to take I-485 to N.C. 27 (Exit 14), continuing west on N.C. 27 to Belmeade Drive to access Whitewater Center Parkway.

Lanes Closed on I-77 In Charlotte
Expect lane closures on I 77 north and south through Tuesday morning. Ramps may also be closed for a small period of time as well. The closures are needed to allow striping crews to stripe and install pavement markers. Beginning Tuesday, November 21st there will be no lane closures due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Lane closures will pick back up on Monday, November 27th.
