FAQs
Q) How often is the map updated?
A) The traffic flow is updated at loadtime and upon movement outside the initial map view, or upon refresh of the page. Any incident markers are checked for updates approximately every 5-10 minutes, but you need to reload the page to load any new updates; the data provided may still be the same status/view as before. Information shown is as only reliable as how it is reported to us.

Q) The roads are backed up or closed, but the map does not show the reason why, what's the deal?
A) Municipal traffic monitors or GPS trackers may not be available, could be offline, or reports and alerts are not syndicated to media outside of the area to use on the map. This is especially true for rural areas. You are encouraged to leave a road conditions report to help others.

Q) I see traffic alerts in the box below for the state, but they aren't related to the area I'm in?
A) We attempt to display alerts as specific to the area as possible, however in some cases the data we receive will only allow us to provide it by county or even statewide.

Q) Are you an official source of traffic information?
A) We are not an official source of traffic or real-time data. We have contracts and licenses to display certain up-to-date information that comes direct from some DOTs in various states, and the traffic flow on the maps is provided by Google or MapQuest. However, the data shown here should only be used for light informational and reference purposes and not to make critical decisions. Your safest option on the web is to use your state-run traffic website, or to call the DOT traffic line for your state, local authorities, or the state's 511 number if available.

Description: US 64 - West of Shiprock - NMDOT will begin a mil and inlay pavying operations. There will be single lane closure with a pilot car operation guiding traffic through the work zone. Description: Cutler Repaving is going to be doing road construction and laying hot mix on White Sands Blvd in Alamogordo starting May 15, 2014. Title: US 84 southbound, 1.2 miles North of US 285 - NM 599 at mile marker 167
Description: Santa Fe–The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will start bridge rehabilitation work on U.S. 84/285 (Exit 168) Santa Fe Opera Interchange north of Santa Fe near the Tesuque Village at mile post 167.8 on May 14, 2014. This work will include subgrade stabilization for the re-leveling of the bridge approach and departure at the interchange. Traffic Impacts: Starting Wednesday, May 14 at 7:00 p.m., the southbound U.S. 84/285 lanes will be reduced to one lane near the Santa Fe Opera Interchange (Exit 168). The lane closures will remain in effect from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. The bridge rehabilitation is scheduled Wednesday night May 13 through Friday night May 16. This project is scheduled for completion June of 2014. Hayward Baker Geotechnical Construction of Colorado is the contractor for this project. Title: Interstate 25 from 0.1 miles West of CANONCITO exit at mile marker 294 to 0.3 miles North of GLORIETA/NM 50 exit at mile marker 299
Description: I-25 Santa Fe –Santa Fe – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will start roadway rehabilitation work on I-25 from mile post 294.5 to mile post 299.5 north of Santa Fe between Canoncito and Glorieta. There will be intermittent single lane closures starting on the northbound lanes of I-25 and then moving to the southbound lanes of I-25. Motorists can expect minor delays from 3:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. during the work week. Fisher Sand & Gravel New Mexico, Inc. of Placitas, New Mexico is the contractor for this project The Federal Highway Administration and NMDOT have partnered to fund these improvements. This $4.9 million roadway rehabilitation work is scheduled for completion summer of 2014. Title: US 285 northbound and southbound at mile marker 45
Description: The NMDOT is doing bridge deck rehabilitation work on the Rocky Arroyo Bridge on US 285 at MP 45 north of Carlsbad. Work will consist of milling and grinding the existing bridge deck and placement of a new concrete overlay on the decks. There will be a temporary one-lane closure with a 25 mph speed limit on the bridges from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Work is expected to be complete in October 2014. Motorists are advised to obey the advance construction signing and the posted speed limits. Title: US 84, 0.7 miles North of FLea Mrkt. Rd. at mile marker 171
Description: Santa Fe–The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) continues bridge rehabilitation work on US 84/285 and N. Tesuque Interchange (Exit 172) north of Santa Fe near the Tesuque Village at mile post 171.6. Title: New Mexico 516, 2.1 miles West of Aztec at mile marker 12
Description: NM 516 - This Project is located in Aztec, NM San Juan County at mile post 12.97 at the intersection of NM 516 and NM 574. San Juan - The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) began construction on the intersection rehabilitation of NM 516 and NM 574 (Light Plant Rd.) September 2013. The intersection improvement project will consist of roadway reconstruction, new curb & gutter with sidewalk, new manhole and storm drain inlet structures, permanent signing, striping, signalization and lighting. Traffic Impacts: The Project will be partially suspended for the winter months. During this time, the intersection and all lanes will be opened to the public with the exception of the utility construction work that will require minor traffic impacts. Project will resume full construction in June of 2014, weather permitting.

Title: Interstate 40 eastbound and westbound from mile marker 197 to mile marker 209
Description: Moriarty - Moriarty - NMDOT continues construction on the Moriarty West Interchange (Exit 194) and on the I-40 roadway improvement. The interchange work will consist of removing the old concrete and replacing it with new concrete. The Moriarty West Interchange work is anticipated to be completed by end of August 2014, weather permitting. The I-40 roadway rehabilitation work will consist of removing the top 3.5 inches of pavement and replacing it back through a mill and inlay process. -The roadway rehabilitation work will be located on the I-40 east and west bound lanes from mile marker 197 to mile marker 209.4 just east of Moriarty. Traffic Impacts: As of Friday May, 16 the I-40 Moriarty East Bound Exit 194 off-ramp has been RE-OPENED. -Starting Sunday, May 18 the I-40 Moriarty Westbound Exit 194 off-ramp will be CLOSED. The closure will remain in effect for 45 days and is scheduled to be RE-OPENED on July 1. Motorists can use the I-40 on ramp two miles east at (Exit 197) -The roadway rehabilitation work will include intermittent lane closures on I-40 east and west bound lanes Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph through the work zone. NMDOT Project Engineer is Habib Abi-Khalil. Contactor is Mountain States Constructors, Inc. Title: Interstate 25 northbound and southbound from 1.2 miles West of CANONCITO exit at mile marker 293 to 0.1 miles West of CANONCITO exit at mile marker 294
Description: Santa Fe – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) began bridge replacement work on I-25 north of Santa Fe at Canoncito between mile markers 293 and 294 on April 7, 2014. The scope of the project includes bridge rehabilitation, roadway and ramp reconstruction, and pavement rehabilitation for 1.42 miles within Santa Fe County. Tom Griego is the NMDOT Project Engineer. AUI is the contractor for this project. Traffic Impacts: Starting May 21, the cross road under I-25 (Sleeping Dog Road) will be CLOSED. Local traffic and residents on the south side of I-25 will be detoured to the Valencia Exit 297 to access I-25 South. Local traffic and residents on the north side of I-25 (Old Las Vegas Highway) will be detoured to the Lamy Exit 290 to access I-25 northbound and southbound. The Sleeping Dog Road closure will be in effect until November 2014. -I-25 southbound traffic will be switched over to the northbound lanes. The northbound and southbound lanes will be reduced to one lane through the work zone. The lane closures will be in effect until June 2014. -Motorists can expect minor delays. The posted speed limit is 55 mph through the work zone. There is a 12 foot width restriction in effect. Description: NMDOT along with Brasier Asphalt will be carrying out maintenance operations by chip sealing US-180 from mile markers 120-128. Title: US 64 from 5.1 miles West of Bloomfield at mile marker 60 to 2.3 miles West of Bloomfield at mile marker 62
Description: There is roadway reconstruction of US 64 for two miles outside the City limits of Bloomfield. Work will be from mile post 60-62. The project will widen US 64 from four to six lanes. Medians will be installed along US 64 for access control. A major storm drain system will be installed. The contractor is Mountain States Constructors, Inc. Project is scheduled to be completed in the winter of 2014. TRAFFIC IMPACTS: The eastbound and westbound traffic are traveling on the newly built westbound lanes and are reduced to one lane with internal turning lanes. Both east and westbound traffic on US 64 is reduced to one and traveling on the westbound side with a continous center turning lane from mile posts 62 to 60. All traffic has access to intersecting streets and turnouts. US 64 EBL are closed from mile posts 62 to 60. Eastbound traffic is merged back into the WBL after mile psot 60.

Title: New Mexico 41 northbound and southbound from 1.6 miles South of Galisteo at mile marker 55 to 0.5 miles South of Galisteo at mile marker 56
Description: Galisteo–The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will start construction work on NM 41 near the Village of Galisteo between mile post 55.53 and mile post 56.1 on April 21, 2014. This work will include the replacement of two bridges and roadway improvements between the two bridges. The bridge work will be located at the San Cristobal Arroyo Bridge south of the Village of Galisteo and the Galisteo Creek Bridge on the southern edge of the Village of Galisteo. Motorists can expect minor delays. During the daylight hours, the northbound and southbound traffic will travel through one lane with a pilot car operation and temporary signal setup. During the night, there will be a temporary signal set up on the north end and south end of the work zone. NO oversize vehicles or commercial loads are allowed through the work zone, and NO oversize loads allowed between Stanley and South of County Road 42. There is a 10’ width restriction. Title: Interstate 25 northbound and southbound at San Antonio at mile marker 139
Description: The NMDOT with Villalobs Construction continue with bridge rehabilitation work for three (3) separate bridges that cross over I-25. The Bridge at NM-1 which is the Luis Lopez Bridge in Socorro is CLOSED on April 22nd for approximately 2 months. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route. The next bridge will be the San Marcial/exit 125 Bridge (Socorro County) with I-25/exit 79 in T or C (Sierra County) to be completed. The work at each bridge is scheduled to take approximately 2 months. The bridges will be CLOSED in segments as work is being conducted. Detours will be posted as work progresses from one to bridge to another. The contractor has constructed crossovers on I-25 where traffic will be switched over in order for work to be conducted on the bridge overpass. Motorists will be advised of lane and speed restrictions. Please proceed with caution

This pavement preservation work is a milling and inlay process located two miles west of the U.S. 491 / U.S. 64 Intersection in Shiprock. Traffic Impacts: Motorists can expect minor delays Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with some weekend work. There will be one lane closures with a flagger and pilot car operation though the work zone. The pavement preservation project is scheduled for completion July of 2014. Cutler Repaving Inc. of Albuquerque is the contractor for this project. -Drivers are urged to proceed through the work zone with caution, watch for construction personnel, observe traffic control signs and reduce speed to the posted limit.
