FAQs

Q) How often is the map updated?

A) The traffic flow is updated at loadtime and upon movement outside the initial map view, or upon refresh of the page. Any incident markers are checked for updates approximately every 5-10 minutes, but you need to reload the page to load any new updates; the data provided may still be the same status/view as before. Information shown is as only reliable as how it is reported to us.

Q) The roads are backed up or closed, but the map does not show the reason why, what's the deal?

A) Municipal traffic monitors or GPS trackers may not be available, could be offline, or reports and alerts are not syndicated to media outside of the area to use on the map. This is especially true for rural areas. You are encouraged to leave a road conditions report to help others.

Q) I see traffic alerts in the box below for the state, but they aren't related to the area I'm in?

A) We attempt to display alerts as specific to the area as possible, however in some cases the data we receive will only allow us to provide it by county or even statewide.

Q) Are you an official source of traffic information?

A) We are not an official source of traffic or real-time data. We have contracts and licenses to display certain up-to-date information that comes direct from some DOTs in various states, and the traffic flow on the maps is provided by Google. However, the data shown here should only be used for light informational and reference purposes and not to make critical decisions. Your safest option on the web is to use your state-run traffic website, or to call the DOT traffic line for your state, local authorities, or the state's 511 number if available.

State Route 3 both directions in Shelby County - Between SR-388 (N. WATKINS RD.) LT. and SR-385 (PAUL W. BARRET MEMORIAL PKWY.) RT., bridge repair will cause a reduction in lanes from two to one lane every day. This work is expected to be completed by 11/15/2012.

State Route 14 both directions in Shelby County - Between SR-204 (NEW COVINGTON PK.) RT. & (SGT. WALTER K. SINGLETON PKWY.) LT. and UNDERPASS [79SR0140072]: SR-385 (PAUL W. BARRET MEMORIAL PKWY.) EB. LNS., bridge repair will cause a reduction in lanes from two to one lane this weekend. This work is expected to be completed by 6/30/2013.

State Route 14 both directions in Shelby County - Between LEAVE SR-175 (SHELBY DR.) RT. and SR-1 (E.H. CRUMP BLVD.) RT. & LT. / {END US-61}, bridge replacement construction will close the roadway every day. This work is expected to be completed by 5/31/2014.

State Route 1(US-70) both directions in Shelby County - Between I-40 CENTER OF OVERHEAD and LEAVE SR-4 (DANNY THOMAS BLVD.) LT., bridge repair will result in narrowed lanes every day. This work is expected to be completed by 6/30/2013.

Interstate 55 northbound in Shelby County - Between MILE MARKER 2 (Mile Marker: 2) and MILE MARKER 3 (Mile Marker: 3), construction work with no outside shoulder every day. This work is expected to be completed by 05/31/2013.

Interstate 55 both directions in Shelby County - Between EXIT 8: HORN LAKE RD. and EXIT 10: S. PARKWAY, interchange modification construction will cause a reduction in lanes from three to two lanes every day. This work is expected to be completed by 06/30/2013.

Interstate 40 westbound in Shelby County - Between EXIT 1B: US-51 / DANNY THOMAS BLVD. and ARKANSAS-TENNESSEE STATE LINE, bridge repair will temporarily slow traffic every day. This work is expected to be completed by 11/30/2013.

Interstate 40 eastbound in Shelby County - Incident at EXIT 1B: US-51 / DANNY THOMAS BLVD. reported at 5/18/2013 8:00:00 AM and estimated to be cleared by 5/22/2013 9:00:00 AM (Central Time Zone). Eastbound traffic is affected with right lane blocked. Westbound traffic is affected with no delays.

Interstate 40 eastbound in Shelby County - Incident at ARKANSAS-TENNESSEE STATE LINE reported at 5/20/2013 9:00:00 AM and estimated to be cleared by 5/22/2013 9:00:00 AM (Central Time Zone). Eastbound traffic is affected with right lane blocked. Westbound traffic is affected with no delays.

Interstate 40 both directions in Shelby County - Between MILE MARKER 12 (Mile Marker: 12) and MILE MARKER 23 (Mile Marker: 23), striping will result in rolling roadblocks at night. This work is expected to be completed by 05/23/2013.

Interstate 240 eastbound in Shelby County - Between EXIT 16: NONCONNAH PARKWAY (Mile Marker: 17) and SR-23 WALNUT GROVE RD. LT. / CENTER OF UNDERPASS, a widening project will cause temporary lane closures every day. This work is expected to be completed by 6/30/2013.

Interstate 240 both directions in Shelby County - Between I-55 RT. & LT. / CENTER OF OVERHEAD / ALONG I-55 & RAMP SYSTEM / LEAVE I-55 BACK / CENTER OF UNDERPASS and EXIT 17: MT. MORIAH RD., resurfacing work will result in lane closures at night. This work is expected to be completed by 8/31/2013.
