FAQs
Q) How often is the map updated?
A) The traffic flow is updated at loadtime and upon movement outside the initial map view, or upon refresh of the page. Any incident markers are checked for updates approximately every 5-10 minutes, but you need to reload the page to load any new updates; the data provided may still be the same status/view as before. Information shown is as only reliable as how it is reported to us.

Q) The roads are backed up or closed, but the map does not show the reason why, what's the deal?
A) Municipal traffic monitors or GPS trackers may not be available, could be offline, or reports and alerts are not syndicated to media outside of the area to use on the map. This is especially true for rural areas. You are encouraged to leave a road conditions report to help others.

Q) I see traffic alerts in the box below for the state, but they aren't related to the area I'm in?
A) We attempt to display alerts as specific to the area as possible, however in some cases the data we receive will only allow us to provide it by county or even statewide.

Q) Are you an official source of traffic information?
A) We are not an official source of traffic or real-time data. We have contracts and licenses to display certain up-to-date information that comes direct from some DOTs in various states, and the traffic flow on the maps is provided by Google or MapQuest. However, the data shown here should only be used for light informational and reference purposes and not to make critical decisions. Your safest option on the web is to use your state-run traffic website, or to call the DOT traffic line for your state, local authorities, or the state's 511 number if available.

Description: White Sands Missile Range periodically has missile firings over US 70 and/or US 380. During the firings the road or roads will be temporarily closed. Title: New Mexico 136 from mile marker 1 to mile marker 3
Description: NM 136 Pete Domenici Hwy is experiencing high volumes of traffic during the morning hours at the Santa Teresa Port of Entry. Please expect delays should you be crossing the border with intentions of export vehicles from the US. All proper documentation must be presented when entering the port.

Title: Interstate 25 northbound and southbound from 1.2 miles West of CANONCITO exit at mile marker 293 to 0.1 miles West of CANONCITO exit at mile marker 294
Description: Santa Fe – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) began bridge replacement work on I-25 north of Santa Fe at Canoncito between mile markers 293 and 294 on April 7, 2014. The scope of the project includes bridge rehabilitation, roadway and ramp reconstruction, and pavement rehabilitation for 1.42 miles within Santa Fe County. Tom Griego is the NMDOT Project Engineer. AUI is the contractor for this project. Traffic Impacts: Starting May 21, the cross road under I-25 (Sleeping Dog Road) will be CLOSED. Local traffic and residents on the south side of I-25 will be detoured to the Valencia Exit 297 to access I-25 South. Local traffic and residents on the north side of I-25 (Old Las Vegas Highway) will be detoured to the Lamy Exit 290 to access I-25 northbound and southbound. The Sleeping Dog Road closure will be in effect until November 2014. -I-25 southbound traffic will be switched over to the northbound lanes. The northbound and southbound lanes will be reduced to one lane through the work zone. The lane closures will be in effect through June, 2014. -Motorists can expect minor delays. The posted speed limit is 55 mph through the work zone. There is a 12 foot width restriction in effect. NMDOT urges motorists to proceed through the work zone with caution, watch for construction personnel, observe traffic control signing and reduced speed to the posted speed limit.

Title: Interstate 25 southbound at mile marker 79 (T OR C NORTH), -Select Lane- lane closed.
Description: The NMDOT with Villalobos Construction continue with bridge rehabilitation over I 25. Traffic will encounter lane, speed and width restrictions within the wor kzone. Motorists will be advised to access exit 83 Elephant Butte, or exit 75 South entrance to T or C. The northbound off ramp will be open. However the southbound off rmap will be CLOSED throughout the durationof the project. The scope of work will consist of replacing concrete deck, approach, metal barrier, and repair existing abutments, pier and wing walls. Please proceed with caution and follow traffic control as posted.

Description: I-25, Fair Driving Conditions from mile marker335 to mile marker 356 (Tecolote to Onava), roads have possible icy spots, light snow flurries. Crews are out salting and cindering. Please drive with caution and reduce your speed.

Description: NM 68 - Taos - Rincondda - Roadways are snow packed and icy. Crews are out and roads have been salted and sanded. Drivers advised to use caution. This event will be updated as conditions change.

Title: Interstate 25 northbound and southbound from mile marker 79 (T OR C NORTH) to mile marker 93
Description: The NMDOT and Mountain States Constructors have shifted traffic the north and southbound lanes where motorists will travel on the newly constructed bridge for north and southbound movement. Traffic will continue be restrict to 12.5 foot width restrictions between mile markers 88 to 92 as concrete wall barriers are placed. The contractor is currently removed the existing bridge which requires the northbound OFF ramp to be CLOSED at exit 92 due to reconstruction of the northbound lanes, please follow traffic control signage within the work zone. Project is scheduled to be complete by June 2015. Reduce speed and proceed with extreme caution as you travel through this area.

Title: US 54 northbound and southbound from mile marker 94 to mile marker 107
Description: New roadway construction is underway. The Contractor will be working Monday though Friday from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. Motorists should watch for equipment and personnel in the workzone and adhere to all construction signage. Speed limits have been reduced to 45 MPH between MP 94 to MP 103. Description: US 82 between Cloudcroft and Alamogordo descends 5,000 feet in 16 miles! Steep grades, numerous tight turns and one tunnel! Trucks without retarder brakes and/or longer than 65 feet in length PROHIBITED on this section of US 82. Consider using an alternative route – US 62/180 or US70 This is a permanent alert. (dm)

Description: NM 159 is open to high profile vehicles that have 4 wheel drive. We strongly recommend that NO trailers be taken through this roadway as it still remains as a single lane. Please enjoy your visit to Mogollon and proceed with caution.

Title: New Mexico 41 from mile marker 55 to mile marker 56 Galisteo
Description: The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) construction work on NM 41 near the Village of Galisteo between mile post 55.53 and mile post 56.1 on April 21, 2014. This work will include the replacement of two bridges and roadway improvements between the two bridges. The bridge work will be located at the San Cristobal Arroyo Bridge south of the Village of Galisteo and the Galisteo Creek Bridge on the southern edge of the Village of Galisteo. Traffic Impacts: Starting Friday, November 21, at 7:00 p.m., NM 41 roadway will be CLOSED at Galisteo. The road closure will remain in effect throughout the weekend. NM 41 roadway will be RE-OPENED on Monday, November 24 at 5:00 a.m. The closure is necessary to complete the bridge deck pours on two bridges Motorists traveling south on NM 41 can use US 285 south to Clines Corners to I-40. Motorists traveling north on NM 41 can use I-40 east to Clines Corners to US 285 north. The detours are equivalent to approximately 21 miles. Additional detours routes include: NM 14, NM 344, and NM 472

Title: New Mexico 460 from mile marker 1 to mile marker 3
Description: NMDOT and Smith and Aguirre are working on installing a storm culvert drain pipe under NM 460 from Miller Street to Landers Drive. The contractor will construct a pond beside the Community Development Center, along with mill and inlay from New Mexico/Texas state line to O'Harra Road/NM 460. The project will also have new ADA compliant features such as sidewalks with landing and turnouts along NM 460.
