Q) How often is the map updated?
A) The traffic flow is updated at loadtime and upon movement outside the initial map view, or upon refresh of the page. Any incident markers are checked for updates approximately every 5-10 minutes, but you need to reload the page to load any new updates; the data provided may still be the same status/view as before. Information shown is as only reliable as how it is reported to us.

Q) The roads are backed up or closed, but the map does not show the reason why, what's the deal?
A) Municipal traffic monitors or GPS trackers may not be available, could be offline, or reports and alerts are not syndicated to media outside of the area to use on the map. This is especially true for rural areas. You are encouraged to leave a road conditions report to help others.

Q) I see traffic alerts in the box below for the state, but they aren't related to the area I'm in?
A) We attempt to display alerts as specific to the area as possible, however in some cases the data we receive will only allow us to provide it by county or even statewide.

Q) Are you an official source of traffic information?
A) We are not an official source of traffic or real-time data. We have contracts and licenses to display certain up-to-date information that comes direct from some DOTs in various states, and the traffic flow on the maps is provided by Google or MapQuest. However, the data shown here should only be used for light informational and reference purposes and not to make critical decisions. Your safest option on the web is to use your state-run traffic website, or to call the DOT traffic line for your state, local authorities, or the state's 511 number if available.

Vado Traffic Alerts
Title: US 550 northbound and southbound at mile marker 53
Description: Bridge work on US 550, mile marker 53 (just south of Cuba) will have a 10' width restriction with concrete wall barrier in place. Work will begin on 3/19/14 until the project is complete. Please drive with caution, reduce speed and obey all posted traffic signs. This event will be updated as conditions change.

Title: New Mexico 516, 2.1 miles West of Aztec at mile marker 12
Description: NM 516 - This Project is located in Aztec, NM San Juan County at mile post 12.97 at the intersection of NM 516 and NM 574. San Juan - The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) began construction on the intersection rehabilitation of NM 516 and NM 574 (Light Plant Rd.) September 2013. The intersection improvement project will consist of roadway reconstruction, new curb & gutter with sidewalk, new manhole and storm drain inlet structures, permanent signing, striping, signalization and lighting. Traffic Impacts: The Project will be partially suspended for the winter months. During this time, the intersection and all lanes will be opened to the public with the exception of the utility construction work that will require minor traffic impacts. Project will resume full construction in spring of 2014, weather permitting.

Title: US 491 northbound and southbound at mile marker 44
Description: Temporary detour in place on US 491 in both directions at mile marker 44 (between Naschitti and Sheep Springs). SPEED REDUCED TO 25 MPH THROUGH DETOUR. PLEASE OBEY POSTED SPEED LIMIT AND DETOUR SIGNS.

Title: US 82 from mile marker 35 to 18 miles East of Mayhill at mile marker 43
Description: The US Forest Service roadway construction has been suspended through the winter months. All lanes are open to traffic with no restrictions. Construction is expected to resume in June 2014. Contractor Mesa Verde Enterprises Superintendent, Daniel Lurtsema 575-491-3048.

Description: White Sands Missile Range periodically has missile firings over US 70 and/or US 380. During the firings the road or roads will be temporarily closed. Title: New Mexico 244 eastbound and westbound from mile marker 0 to mile marker 29
Description: New signage project. The Contractor will be working Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Motorists should watch for equipment and personnel in the workzone and adhere to all construction signage. Traffic may be reduced to one lane with pilot car at random times throughout the work day. Description: US 82 between Cloudcroft and Alamogordo descends 5,000 feet in 16 miles! Steep grades, numerous tight turns and one tunnel! Trucks without retarder brakes and/or longer than 65 feet in length PROHIBITED on this section of US 82. Consider using an alternative route – US 62/180 or US70 This is a permanent alert. (dm)

Title: New Mexico 159 from Mogollon at mile marker 10 to Mogollon at mile marker 25
Description: NM-159 is CLOSED in Mogollon except for high cleareance vehicles and local traffic due to damaged roadway. Motorists are encouraged to avoid this area until NM-159 can be fuly opened. Please seek an alternate route and proceed with caution. BS

Title: New Mexico 556 northbound and southbound at mile marker 12
Description: Wednesday 4/23 and Thursday 4/24 from 9 pm to 5 am each evening- Tramway both directions will be closed from Menaul to Candelaria. Ongoing through Friday 5/2 from 9 am to 3 pm each day(Century) – N_M 5_56 (Tramway) from Candelaria to Menaul will have the right lane closed for bridge repair.
