At 400 PM EDT, a line of strong thunderstorms was along a line extending from Tallapoosa to Temple to Winston. These storms were nearly stationary. HAZARD...Frequent lightning and heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Heavy rain may cause temporary street flooding especially in poor drainage areas. Locations impacted include... Douglasville, Buchanan, Villa Rica, Bremen, Temple, Hiram, Tallapoosa, Mount Zion, Waco, Brownsville, Bill Arp, Draketown, Winston, Lake Val-Do-Mar, New Georgia, and Bowdon Junction.

At 353 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Snipesville to near Nicholls to near Pebble Hill. Movement was north at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts around 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Waycross, Baxley, Hazlehurst, Alma, Blackshear, Patterson, Graham, Surrency, Plant Hatch, and Offerman.

The combination of temperatures warming into the lower to mid 90s with moderate levels of humidity will produce heat indices near 105 this afternoon across much of the South Carolina Lowcountry and Southeast Georgia. Those participating in outside September 11th memorial activities should be prepared for this level of heat and humidity today. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will produce relief in some areas later today. Cloud-to-ground lightning will pose a risk to anyone caught outdoors. Be prepared to seek shelter should thunderstorms approach. Remember, When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors!
