Traffic flow lines: Red/White dashed lines = Closed Road, Grey/White dashed lines = Road Work, Red lines = Heavy traffic flow, Yellow/Orange lines = Medium flow and Green = normal traffic. Black lines or No traffic flow lines could indicate a closed road, but in most cases it means that either there is not enough vehicle flow to register or traffic isn't monitored. Also, If you do not see traffic flow, you can zoom in closer to reveal localized data. If you are unable to pan the map, press here (to focus off of the map) and try again.

Traffic Incidents: Each icon represents a traffic event or incident such as road construction, closure (red circle with a white dash) or accident.

In known extreme weather events, flooding, or accidents, the map may still show green lines, even if lanes or the entire road is closed.

Severe Weather and Heatwave Impact on Roads
Updated Mon Aug 17th 2026, 6:03am PDT
Midwest to Mid-Atlantic Downpours
Commuters on I-70 and I-80 should be attentive today as severe thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected across the upper Ohio Valley to central Appalachians, possibly affecting the Ohio Turnpike and PA Turnpike. Traffic might be slow due to flash flooding in these areas. By Tuesday, a cold front will clear the unsettled weather, calming conditions on these routes.
North-Central U.S. Storms
On Tuesday, I-90 and I-94 drivers in the north-central U.S. should be prepared for clusters of strong to severe thunderstorms. Flash flooding could affect travel, especially in areas near the Canadian border. Cooler air will follow the front, bringing relief by Wednesday.
Southern and Southwestern Heatwave
Travelers on I-10 and I-20 in the South and Southeast will continue to face scorching temperatures, with highs reaching into the 100s, and heat indices up to 115 degrees. Exercise caution, stay hydrated, and use air conditioning if you're on these roads. Parts of the Southwest, including I-15 and I-40, will also face extreme heat, with temperatures climbing into the 110s on Monday and Tuesday. Extreme Heat Watches and Warnings are in effect, so plan your travel carefully.
