Current National Weather
Let's keep our umbrellas and snow boots ready as we navigate through some diverse weather! The Midwest is bracing for strong thunderstorms, while the northern Rockies and surrounding regions are expecting spring snow. Meanwhile, a warm-up is underway across the eastern U.S. Stay tuned for more details on how this weekend's weather may affect you and your plans.
Midwest:Early this morning, those in the Midwest should be prepared for strong thunderstorms. These storms may pack a punch, so it's best to stay indoors if possible.
Northern Plains to Upper Midwest:From Saturday night into Sunday, strong to severe thunderstorms are on the radar for the northern Plains and upper Midwest. Areas from Omaha, NE to Minneapolis, MN should be on alert for these storms, which could bring heavy rain and gusty winds.
Northern Rockies and Great Basin:In the northern Rockies and Great Basin, a storm system is moving in, bringing cold air and snow to higher elevations. By Sunday night into Monday, the snow will reach the mountains of Wyoming, the Front Range, and the Wasatch. The transition to snow is due to a deepening low-pressure system. Expect gusty winds as well.
Eastern U.S.:Meanwhile, the eastern U.S. will warm up over the next few days. This heat could trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms around the lower Great Lakes and the interior Northeast today and tonight. Temperatures are on the rise and could hit the 90s by Sunday, especially in the central Plains.
Northwest to Northern High Plains:As we look to Monday, below-normal temperatures will spread from the Northwest into the northern High Plains. Snowfall is expected in the higher elevations of the northern to central Rockies due to the storm track and cooler air.
