Meanwhile, the Southern Plains brace for heavy rain, particularly in Texas and Oklahoma. Heat warnings are in effect across the eastern and western U.S., with scorching temperatures predicted.

Stormy Weather Alert for the East

This weekend, a moist air mass and a cold front moving from the Midwest will trigger thunderstorms across the eastern and central U.S. On Saturday, expect storms from the Lower Great Lakes through the Ohio Valley and along the East Coast. Severe weather, including damaging winds, is possible due to strong upper-level winds. Heavy rains could lead to flash flooding from the Carolinas up to Upstate New York and Western New England. On Sunday, the thunderstorm activity focuses on the Mid-Atlantic, Northern Appalachians, and Upstate New York, with a Slight Risk of Excessive Rainfall and scattered flash flooding.
