Southeasterly winds will increase across both coastal and interior Bristol Bay regions this evening. Winds and gusts will peak overnight through mid to late Wednesday morning before slowly decreasing in intensity Wednesday evening. Winds will be strongest across the interior with sustained winds of 30 to 45 mph and gusts to 70 mph, with the communities of Igiugig, Koliganek, and New Stuyahok likely to see some of the strongest winds. Along the coast, expect sustained winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts 45 to 55 mph.

Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Kuskokwim Delta Coast. * WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 11 AM AKDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas of snow or rain/snow mixed this afternoon will transition to all snow by this evening and become heavier through the evening and overnight hours. Snow will continue through Wednesday morning before changing back over to a rain/snow mix. The highest accumulations will be along the Kuskokwim Delta Coast where the coldest air will remain. Farther inland, 2 to 4 inches of snow is possible through Wednesday morning.

Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Rain this afternoon will transition to snow overnight as colder air moves in. Temperatures will continue through Wednesday as winds increase and snow showers persist. Snow could fall at a rate of one to two inches per hour in heavier snow bands Wednesday morning. The combination of heavier snow and gusty winds could significantly reduce visibility at times. Show showers are expected to taper off Thursday morning.
