Mississippi River At Red River Landing affecting East Baton Rouge, Pointe Coupee and West Feliciana Parishes. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring. * WHERE...Mississippi River at Red River Landing. * WHEN...Until late this afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 48.0 feet, Access roads will be inundated and evacuation of all river islands must be complete. Protection of people and property in the river bottom land on the river side of the levees must be complete. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 48.1 feet. - Bankfull stage is 46.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:00 AM CDT Thursday was 48.1 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 9.6 feet just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 48.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 48.1 feet on 06/10/1957. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

For the Lower Pearl River...including Pearl River...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Pearl River near Pearl River. * WHEN...Until Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...At 15.5 feet, Secondary roads to the river and throughout Honey Island Swamp are inundated. Property in the vicinity of the gage is flooded threatening about 20 homes along the left bank. The Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge will be closed to hunting at the 15.5 foot stage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 15.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 12.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 10:00 AM CDT Thursday was 15.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage early Saturday morning and continue falling to 10.9 feet Sunday, May 05. - Flood stage is 14.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 15.3 feet on 02/13/1981. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
