Flood Advisory

Flood Advisory issued May 17 at 6:02AM EDT until May 17 at 9:00AM EDT by NWS Indianapolis IN

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of west central Indiana, including the following counties, Clay and Owen. * WHEN...Until 900 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 602 AM EDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain in the advisory area due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is already occurring. Between 1 and 2.25 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Clay City and Patricksburg. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Minor flooding south of Interstate 70 in western Indiana will be possible. Forecast trends have been calling for lower crests than originally expected. Flooding at Elliston has been delayed to this evening, and the crest at Newberry is now expected to peak at flood stage of 13.0 feet. Flooding is predicted to end by Monday night. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...White River at Newberry. * WHEN...From Friday afternoon to early Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 13.0 feet, Flooding of a few lowlands begins in Greene County. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:30 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 10.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 13.1 feet tomorrow evening.
