Ohio River at Tell City affecting Hancock and Perry Counties. .Heavy rain from the past few days will allow the river to continue to rise over the next several days. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Ohio River at Tell City. * WHEN...Until early Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 35.5 feet, Floodgates begin closing. At 38.0 feet, Indiana highway 66 floods between Derby and Magnet... Rome and Derby...and at Rocky Point. At 40.0 feet, Indiana highway 66 closes above Cannelton. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 5:30 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 39.1 feet. - Bankfull stage is 30.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 5:30 AM CDT Wednesday was 39.1 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 40.1 feet tomorrow evening. Parts of Humbert Avenue in the East End of Cincinnati are flooded. Gusty southerly winds will be present today ahead of an approaching cold front. Frequent wind gusts will range from 25-30 mph in south-central Kentucky to 30-35 mph in north-central Kentucky and southern Indiana. Stronger gusts of 35+ mph could occasionally occur during peak heating time this afternoon. Secure outdoor decorations and empty trash cans. Use extra caution when driving high profile vehicles, especially in west to east oriented highways.
