...The National Weather Service in Wakefield VA has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Virginia... Meherrin River At Lawrenceville affecting Brunswick County. For the Chowan Basin...including Rawlings, Stony Creek, Sebrell, Lawrenceville, Emporia, Franklin...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Meherrin River at Lawrenceville. * WHEN...From this evening to early Saturday afternoon. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 6:45 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 5.7 feet. - Bankfull stage is 15.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this evening to a crest of 19.6 feet early tomorrow afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Saturday morning. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 19.6 feet on 06/01/1971. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of northeast North Carolina, including the following areas, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Eastern Currituck, Gates, Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Western Currituck and southeast Virginia, including the following areas, Chesapeake, Greensville, Hampton/Poquoson, Isle of Wight, James City, Newport News, Norfolk/Portsmouth, Southampton, Suffolk, Surry, Sussex, Virginia Beach and York. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - The axis of heavy rain will shift east as the cold front approaches and remain across the eastern portion of the local area through the day today.
