* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of northeast North Carolina, including the following areas, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Eastern Currituck, Gates, Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Western Currituck and southeast Virginia, including the following areas, Chesapeake, Greensville, Hampton/Poquoson, Isle of Wight, James City, Newport News, Norfolk/Portsmouth, Southampton, Suffolk, Surry, Sussex, Virginia Beach and York. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - The axis of heavy rain will shift east as the cold front approaches and remain across the eastern portion of the local area through the day today. Flood Advisory issued March 28 at 3:02AM EDT until March 28 at 5:00AM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of southeast North Carolina, including the following counties, Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus and Pender and northeast South Carolina, including the following county, Horry. * WHEN...Until 500 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 300 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Overall, between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen, but a few isolated areas have recorded 1 to 2 inches of rain, particularly around the Nakina area in Columbus County. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Rocky River Near Norwood affecting Stanly and Anson Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Rocky River near Norwood. * WHEN...Until this afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 16.0 feet, Action Stage. The river begins to overflow its banks in some areas upstream of the gage site. At 20.0 feet, Minor flood stage. There is significant overflow into adjacent pasture and lowlands. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1:00 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 19.2 feet. - Bankfull stage is 15.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early this morning to a crest of 20.2 ft. Lumber River Near Lumberton affecting Robeson County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Lumber River near Lumberton. * WHEN...From Thursday afternoon until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 13.0 feet, Low land flooding will occur along the river. The flood waters may affect some residential property as water backs up into the drainage ditches in the city. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:05 PM EDT Wednesday the stage was 9.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow afternoon and continue rising to a crest of 13.8 feet early Friday morning. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 8 PM Thursday to 2 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Up to 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways resulting in a low threat of property damage.
