Patchy fog, locally dense, is possible into early morning Saturday. Visibilities in the most dense pockets of fog will range from 0.25 to 1 mile. If traveling in this area, watch out for sudden reductions to visibility. If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...The beaches north of Cape Hatteras. * WHEN...From 8 AM EDT this morning through this evening. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The most likely time for strong rip currents to occur is a couple hours either side of low tide, which will occur around noon today.
