Expect a continuation of scattered snow showers and flurries today. Some of the heavier snow showers may produce a quick half inch, to an inch of snow, in addition to what is already on the ground. Last night's snowfall has produced some icy roads. If you are traveling today, be prepared for hazardous travel, especially in the higher elevations. Also watch-out for today's snow showers which may reduce visibility and re-coat roads with snow making them icy.

* WHAT...Snow above 3500 feet. Additional snow accumulations up to an inch, with locally higher amounts possible above 5,000 feet. Additional snow accumulations of a dusting to possibly half an inch in some lower elevations. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...The North Carolina mountain counties along the Tennessee border above 3500 feet. * WHEN...Until 3 PM EDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...The snowfall will create slippery and snow covered roadways. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute. Strong winds could cause damage to trees and power lines.

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 expected. * WHERE...Portions of southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina. * WHEN...From 2 AM to 10 AM EDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
