How to use the Clayton Traffic Map
A static map with traffic flow is shown first and to start using the interactive map you press the blue Load button above to go live.

Traffic flow lines: Red/White dashed lines = Closed Road, Grey/White dashed lines = Road Work, Red lines = Heavy traffic flow, Yellow/Orange lines = Medium flow, and Green = normal traffic. Black lines or no traffic flow lines could indicate a closed road, but in most cases it means that either there is not enough vehicle flow to register or traffic isn't monitored. Also, if you do not see traffic flow, you can zoom in closer to reveal localized data. If you are unable to pan the map, press here (to focus off of the map) and try again.

Traffic Incidents: Each icon represents a traffic event or incident such as road construction, closure (red circle with a white dash), or accident. In some regions there may also be live traffic camaras to view.

In known extreme weather events or accidents, the map may still show green lines, even if lanes or the entire road are closed.

National Traffic Forecast

Heavy Snow and Wintry Mix Impacting Major Routes - Feb 18 to Feb 20
Updated Wed Feb 18th 2026, 2:33am PST
Snowy Sierra and Intermountain West
Commuters and travelers on the Interstate 80 and US Route 395 through the Sierra Nevada should anticipate heavy snow through Thursday. Snowfall could exceed 8 inches, especially in the southern Cascades and southern Oregon coastal ranges. The situation is similar on Interstate 84 across the Pacific Northwest, where significant snowfall could make travel difficult. By late Thursday, expect conditions to improve as the weather pattern shifts.
Wintry Weather from the Plains to New England
Snow and icy conditions are expected to impact drivers on Interstate 94 and Interstate 90 across the northern and central Plains into the Great Lakes on Wednesday. By Thursday, the wintry mix will spread eastward, potentially affecting travel on Interstate 75 and Interstate 80 across the Ohio Valley into New England. Plan for possible delays and hazardous conditions as snow turns to rain in some areas.
Warm and Windy in the Central and Southern Plains
Travelers through the central and southern Plains, particularly along Interstate 70 and Interstate 35, should be aware of gusty winds and unusually warm temperatures on Wednesday. These conditions will persist, contributing to a high risk of wildfires. Exercise caution when driving, as visibility may be reduced due to blowing dust.
Thunderstorms in the Ohio Valley
Drivers should remain alert on Interstate 64 and Interstate 65 in the lower and middle Ohio Valley on Thursday. Severe thunderstorms, with the potential for damaging winds and tornadoes, are expected. This could cause significant disruptions, so plan for possible delays and road closures.
Cooler West, Warmer East
While the western U.S., including California and the Pacific Northwest, experience temperatures in the 30s to 50s, the central and eastern U.S. will enjoy warmer than average conditions. Temperatures in the Midwest could reach the 70s, which is 30 to 40 degrees above normal. Stay informed and travel safely!
