Special Weather Statement

Special Weather Statement issued March 29 at 9:10AM EDT by NWS Charleston WV

A combination of dry vegetation, relative humidity values in the upper twenties, and winds gusting up to 20 mph at times will result in increased danger of fire start and spread through this evening. Please exercise caution if handling open flames or equipment that creates sparks. Dispose of cigarette buttes, matches, and other flammable materials in appropriate containers. Keep vehicles off of dry grass and obey local burn bans. Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly. Kentucky law prohibits burning in the spring from 6 AM to 6 PM...February 15th through April 30th. Overnight burning is highly discouraged at this time due to the very dry conditions.
