At 1112 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Weh-Weh-Neh-Kee State Park, or over Altoona, moving northeast at 50 mph. HAZARD...Tornado. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This dangerous storm will be near... Bondurant and Mitchellville around 1120 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Ankeny Regional Airport, Weh-Weh-Neh-Kee State Park, and Margo Frankel Woods State Park. This includes the following highways... Interstate 35 between mile markers 87 and 90. Interstate 80 between mile markers 134 and 149. Interstate 235 between mile markers 11 and 14.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS EXTENDED TORNADO WATCH 142 TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING AREAS UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT TONIGHT IN IOWA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 6 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL IOWA MARSHALL POWESHIEK TAMA IN SOUTH CENTRAL IOWA MAHASKA IN SOUTHEAST IOWA DAVIS WAPELLO THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BLOOMFIELD, DYSART, GLADBROOK, GRINNELL, MARSHALLTOWN, OSKALOOSA, OTTUMWA, TAMA, TOLEDO, AND TRAER. * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE... A FEW TORNADOES LIKELY WITH A COUPLE INTENSE TORNADOES POSSIBLE. SCATTERED LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 2.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER LIKELY.
