...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Tennessee... South Fork of the Forked Deer near Halls For the South Fork Forked Deer River...including Halls...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...South Fork of the Forked Deer near Halls. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 10.5 feet, Flooding on agricultural land near the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:00 PM CST Tuesday the stage was 9.0 feet. - Forecast...The river will fall below flood stage this evening to 8.9 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then rise above flood stage tomorrow morning to 10.0 feet early Thursday morning. It will fall to 9.5 feet Friday morning. It will then rise to 9.7 feet Saturday evening. ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Georgia...Tennessee... South Chickamauga Creek Near Chickamauga TN affecting Hamilton and Catoosa Counties. For the South Chickamauga...including Chickamauga TN...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...South Chickamauga Creek near Chickamauga TN. * WHEN...From late Wednesday night to early Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Water begins to cross Mack Smith Road in Catoosa County, Georgia. Flooding begins at golf courses near the confluence of South and West Chickamauga Creeks. West Chickamauga Creek begins to overflow its banks, as well. At 19.0 feet, Water across Mack Smith Road begins to impede traffic. West Chickamauga Creek overflows its banks near the Georgia state line and inundates several roads and properties in the area. At 20.0 feet, Mack Smith Road is closed. Water crosses Lovell Field Loop, the access road around the north end of the airport runway. At 21.0 feet, Mack Smith Road and Lovell Field Loop become impassable. Water begins to come onto Airport Road, just north of the terminal complex. West Chickamauga Creek increases to near a half mile wide in places, becoming hazardous to adjacent travel in East Ridge. At 22.0 feet, Airport Road is closed to traffic. A couple of homes are slightly flooded near intersection of Mack Smith Road and May Street. Flooding becomes extensive around the north end of the airport. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:15 PM EST Tuesday the stage was 6.7 feet. - Bankfull stage is 18.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Thursday morning to a crest of 20.5 feet Thursday evening. For the Sequatchie River...including Whitwell TN...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Sequatchie River near Whitwell TN. * WHEN...From Thursday morning to early Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, Flooding of agricultural land occurs. Portions of Mt. Calvary Road along the river may begin to flood. At 16.0 feet, Flooding of agricultural land becomes more extensive. Water reaches the bottom of the river gage house. Portions of Mt. Calvary Road along the river are inundated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 6:15 PM CST Tuesday the stage was 5.2 feet. - Bankfull stage is 14.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late Thursday morning to a crest of 14.5 feet Thursday evening. ESFOHX There is an increasing probability of widespread rainfall amounts of 3 inches or more from Friday night through Sunday. This could lead to flooding of rivers across Middle Tennessee. Some locations may even reach moderate flood stage. Here are the rivers where any location along the river has a chance to reach Action Stage, Minor Flood Stage, or Moderate Flood Stage over the weekend and into early next week: Buffalo River - 20% chance of reaching Moderate Flood Stage 40% chance of reaching Minor Flood Stage 70% chance of reaching Action Stage Cumberland River Below Old Hickory Dam - <5% chance of reaching Moderate Flood Stage 10% chance of reaching Minor Flood Stage 100% chance of reaching Action Stage Duck River Below Shelbyville - 10% chance of reaching Major Flood Stage 30% chance of reaching Moderate Flood Stage 40% chance of reaching Minor Flood Stage 70% chance of reaching Action Stage Harpeth River between Franklin and Kingston Springs - 20% chance of reaching Moderate Flood Stage 30% chance of reaching Minor Flood Stage 40% chance of reaching Action Stage The saturated soils in place ahead of this event could lead to quick rises in smaller creeks and streams as well, especially with any strong thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening. This time of year rainfall rates of 0.5 to 1.0 inches per hour are enough to cause flash flooding, and overwhelm low lying and poor draining areas. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. These high waters in streams and rivers will possibly result in flooded structures in vulnerable locations along local waterways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Storm system will continue to bring multiple rounds of moderate to heavy rain tonight and again on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
