* WHAT...North winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph possible. * WHERE...Portions of eastern, northeastern, and southeastern Massachusetts and northern and southern Rhode Island. * WHEN...From Friday morning through Saturday evening. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Coastal Flood Watch issued September 23 at 3:09PM EDT until September 26 at 5:00PM EDT by NWS Boston/Norton MA

* WHAT...Up to one foot of inundation above ground level possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (3.7 to 12.9 feet Mean Lower Low Water). * WHERE...Eastern Essex, Suffolk, Eastern Norfolk, Eastern Plymouth, Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket Counties. * WHEN...From Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Roads remain passable. Low lying areas and roads near Nantucket Harbor, including Easy Street, may experience pockets of shallow flooding less than one foot deep. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The exact timing for an approaching coastal low pressure remains uncertain. That will become important for peak surge around the times of high tides. Multiple tide cycles will be impacted, which combined with strong onshore flow may result in tides not lowering as well. Beach erosion will also be a concern, mainly for east-facing beaches.

When a severe thunderstorm warning is issued, the storm may produce damaging winds, large hail, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain. In some cases, heavy rainfall produced by a severe storm can also lead to flash flooding. Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas.
