Rain has mostly lifted out of the area this morning, but freezing drizzle and or mist remain in place. As temperatures drop sharply, roads are likely to become slippery. Motorists are advised to use caution throughout the day.

Additional snow accumulations between 1 and 4 inches for a storm total of 3 to 6 inches. * WHERE...Southeastern St. Lawrence, Southern Franklin, Western Clinton, and Western Essex Counties. * WHEN...Until 7 PM EST this evening. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Rain will continue to transition to snow this morning due to sharply falling temperatures. Any standing water may freeze, especially on untreated roads and elevated surfaces.

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations between 3 and 5 inches for a storm total of 5 to 8 inches. * WHERE...Northern Franklin, Northern St. Lawrence, and Southwestern St. Lawrence Counties. * WHEN...Until 7 PM EST this evening. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will become slick and hazardous. Travel will be very difficult, including the Thursday morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will taper off to snow showers later this evening. Bitterly cold wind chills near 10 below zero are expected by this afternoon.

* WHAT...Snow. Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches. * WHERE...Hamilton and Northern Herkimer Counties. * WHEN...Until 7 PM EST this evening. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions between accumulating wet snow and wet surfaces turning icy as temperatures rapidly fall into the 20s today. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...After wet snow falls through this morning, we should have a brief break this afternoon before lake effect snow showers extend into the southwest Adirondacks tonight bringing additional light snow accumulations. Falling snow within any lake effect snow showers combined with gusty winds reaching 25-35mph (especially after Midnight) can result in reduced visibility tonight.
