Brief periods of heavy snow will affect portions of northwest and west-central Minnesota this afternoon. This will lead to sudden reductions in visibility under half a mile, and may bring quickly accumulating snow up to 1 inch. This may impact the afternoon commute. Persons and vehicles across this area should prepare for suddenly deteriorated travel conditions. If you are traveling, reduce your speed and turn on headlights. Don't use cruise control, and don't slam on the brakes.
