* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches around 7,000 feet and up to one foot at the highest peaks. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Kaiser to Rodgers Ridge, Kings Canyon NP, Sequoia NP, Upper San Joaquin River, and Yosemite NP outside of the valley. * WHEN...Until 5 PM PDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

* WHAT...Heavy snow above 6500 feet. Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches above 6500 feet with up to 10 inches along highest mountain peaks. Additional 1 to 3 inches of snow possible at lake level, highest on the western shores. Wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph across lower elevations, including Lake Tahoe where wave heights may reach up to 3 feet. Ridgetop winds gusting up to 90 mph at times. * WHERE...Greater Lake Tahoe Area. * WHEN...Until 5 PM PDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult through Sierra passes. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday and Wednesday commutes. Strong winds could cause damage to trees and power lines. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heavier snow bands could result in locally greater snow totals. Isolated lightning is also possible along the Sierra crest today and Wednesday afternoons.

* WHAT...Heavy snow above 7000 feet. Additional snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches above 7000 feet. An additional 2 to 4 inches of snow possible for communities along Highway 395. Southwesterly wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph across lower elevations with gusts up to 60 mph in wind prone locations along US-395. Wind gusts up to 90 mph along ridges. * WHERE...Mono County. * WHEN...Until 5 PM PDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult through Sierra passes. The hazardous conditions could impact today and Wednesday commutes. Strong winds could cause damage to trees and power lines. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong and gusty winds are anticipated today with potentially damaging winds this afternoon. Locally greater snow totals are possible with heavier snow bands. Isolated lightning is also possible along the Sierra crest today and Wednesday afternoons.

Visit https://www.aqmd.gov/alertinfo to check current and forecasted air quality levels. * WHERE...in the Coachella Valley and San Gorgonio Pass Near Banning. Levels of particle pollution can vary by time and location depending on emissions and local weather conditions. * WHEN...until 11:59 PM Wednesday . * IMPACTS... Particle pollution can get deep into the lungs and cause serious health problems such as asthma attacks, heart and lung disease symptoms, and increased risk of lung infections. Everyone can be affected, but sensitive groups such as people with lung or heart disease, older adults, people who are pregnant, children, and those who spend a lot of time outdoors are at greater risk.

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of up to 6 to 12 inches above 5000 feet, with up to 18 inches at the highest peaks. Minor accumulations of up to 2 inches possible down to 4500 feet. Southwest winds could gust as high as 50 mph. * WHERE...Northern Sierra Nevada and southern Cascades above 5000 feet, including Highway 50, Interstate 80 and Lassen Volcanic National Park. * WHEN...Until 5 PM PDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday and Wednesday commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow levels 5500 to 6500 feet today, lowering to 4500 to 5500 feet by early Wednesday. Locally lower snow levels possible in heavier convective showers. Heaviest snowfall expected this afternoon and evening with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour at times.
