Winter Weather Advisory issued December 4 at 9:35PM AKST until December 5 at 9:00AM AKST by NWS Anchorage AK

* WHAT...Rain falling on cold surfaces. Rainfall totals of 0.50" to 1.00". * WHERE...Valdez up to Thompson Pass. * WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 9 AM AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Water flowing over snow and ice packed surfaces could lead to hazardous travel conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Another round of rain will arrive in Valdez this evening and continue through Thursday. Temperatures will be above freezing for most if not all of this time period. Thus, do not expect freezing rain and ice accumulation like Tuesday night. However, rain falling on to and running across existing icy surfaces could lead to hazardous walking and driving conditions. For Thompson Pass, expect a wintry mix of precipitation, with snow, freezing rain, and rain all possible. Temperatures will warm overnight tonight which will cause precipitation to go to all rain for most, if not all, of the Pass.

* WHAT...Snow, freezing rain, and rain expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches, mainly north and west of Glennallen. Ice accumulations of up to two tenths of an inch, mainly south of Glennallen. * WHERE...Copper River Basin. * WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 1 PM AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Steady precipitation has moved into the southern Copper River Basin this evening and will quickly spread north and west across the basin. Precipitation may start out as snow most places, but will quickly transition to freezing rain for the central and southern basin, Glennallen southward...including the Edgerton Highway corridor and Glennallen Highway toward Thompson Pass. Precipitation intensity may lighten up overnight, but another round of heavier precipitation will move through Thursday morning, followed by gusty southeasterly winds. This will lead to transition to rain for most areas, with temperatures rising above freezing for the Copper Valley as winds come in.

* WHAT...Freezing rain expected. Total ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch. * WHERE...Susitna Valley. * WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 3 PM AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Water flowing over snow and ice packed surfaces and a light glaze of ice on road surfaces could lead to hazardous travel conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas of freezing rain mixed with snow will develop this evening with the southern Susitna Valley seeing mostly freezing rain. The northern to western Susitna Valley will remain colder and could see some light snow accumulation. Temperatures will warm above freezing Thursday afternoon and precipitation will become all rain before tapering off in the evening.

Total ice accumulations of a light glaze. * WHERE...Anchorage north to the Matanuska Valley, west of Wasilla including Houston and Big Lake. * WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 3 PM AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Water flowing over snow and ice packed surfaces and a light glaze of ice on road surfaces could lead to hazardous travel conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas of freezing rain will develop tonight. The best chance for steady freezing rain and development of a glaze of ice will be overnight tonight through the morning hours. Temperatures will warm above freezing Thursday afternoon and precipitation will become all rain before tapering off in the evening. Residential areas with residual snow cover will be most impacted by the freezing rain.

Flood Watch issued December 4 at 1:54PM AKST until December 5 at 9:00AM AKST by NWS Juneau AK

A low and associated front will to move across the area tonight bringing more moderate to heavy rain across the region. The rain combined with a melting snowpack and high freezing levels will continue to provide runoff for area rivers and streams that are already running at an elevated level. * WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is possible. * WHERE...The following area, Central Inner Channels. This includes the cities of Gustavus And Juneau. * WHEN...Through Thursday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, low-lying areas and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Heavy rain may fall on the existing snowpack leading to increased runoff. Flows in rivers may increase quickly and reach impactful levels. Between an 1 to an 1.5 inches of rain with localized higher amounts is possible through the overnight hours. - Storm drains should be kept clear of debris as much as possible.

Winter Weather Advisory issued December 4 at 9:32AM AKST until December 5 at 12:00PM AKST by NWS Anchorage AK

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch and total snow accumulations of up to 3 inches. * WHERE...Bristol Bay. * WHEN...Until noon AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Power outages are possible. Travel could be extremely hazardous. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Multiple rounds of light precipitation will bring continued chances for a wintry mix of snow and freezing rain through noon Thursday. There will be a break in steady precipitation late this evening before the second round arrives Thursday morning. Precipitation looks to taper to scattered light showers Thursday afternoon. The highest likelihood for freezing rain and ice accumulation will occur along a line roughly from Dillingham north through Koliganek. As you head east toward the Alaska Peninsula and Aleutian and Alaska Ranges, temperatures will rise above freezing, leading to plain rain.

Total snow accumulations of up to 3 inches and ice accumulations of a glaze to one tenth of an inch. * WHERE...Lower Kuskokwim Valley. * WHEN...Until 4 PM AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Multiple rounds of precipitation will affect the Kuskokwim Valley through Thursday. Precipitation type may fluctuate back and forth between snow and freezing rain.
