Flood Advisory issued March 28 at 11:30AM EDT until March 28 at 4:30PM EDT by NWS Caribou ME

* WHAT...Small stream, creek and small river flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is expected. * WHERE...Portions of DownEast, East Central, North Central, and Northern Maine, including the following counties, in DownEast Maine, Washington. In East Central Maine, Penobscot. In North Central Maine, Piscataquis. In Northern Maine, Aroostook. * WHEN...Until 430 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1129 AM EDT, rain and snowmelt is occurring and expected to continue, and will cause minor flooding. This will cause small stream flooding. Rapid small river, creek and stream rises will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Snowmelt of 0.5 to 1.5 inch or more has or will occur over the next several hours. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain plus snowmelt will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Lincoln, Bangor, Old Town, Howland, Danforth, Orono, Corinth, Milo, Veazie, Medway, Kenduskeag, Springfield, Licoln Township, Grand Falls, Lake View Plantation, Indian Island, Orneville, Wytopitlock, Reed Plantation and East Corinth. - For flood safety visit http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

A period of moderate to heavy rain is expected through Friday as low pressure moves up the coast. The rain will fall on a primed snowpack leading to significant melt. The combination of rain and snowmelt will increase flows in rivers and streams, some of which could reach critical levels. * WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of southwest Maine, including the following areas, Coastal York and Interior York and New Hampshire, including the following areas, Coastal Rockingham, Eastern Hillsborough, Interior Rockingham, Merrimack, Strafford and Western And Central Hillsborough. * WHEN...Through Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Rainfall of 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts is possible in the watch area. This in combination with 1 to 2 inches of snowmelt will lead to small stream flooding. Urban and low lying flooding is also possible.

Flows in smaller rivers, streams and creeks may increase quickly and reach critical levels. Larger stem rivers will begin to increase flows. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall and snowmelt is possible. * WHERE...Portions of Central Highlands, Far Eastern, and North Woods Maine, including the following areas, in Central Highlands Maine, Central Piscataquis and Northern Penobscot. In Far Eastern Maine, Southeast Aroostook. In North Woods Maine, Northern Piscataquis. * WHEN...Through Friday evening. * IMPACTS...Small rivers, creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.
