Patchy fog has developed across portions of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois. The fog could become locally dense with visibilities briefly down to a quarter mile, mainly in river valleys and other low lying locations. Visibilities will quickly improve after 8 AM as temperatures warm up and the fog dissipates. Motorists should exercise caution early this morning as visibilities may change suddenly over very short distances. Slow down and keep plenty of stopping distance in front of you.

If traveling this morning, remain aware of localized dense fog through about 8 am. It mainly extends from northeast Iowa into southwest and central Wisconsin, along and south of Interstate 90. Thickest fog and lowest visibilities reside in river valleys. The fog can rapidly reduce visibilities to 1/4 mile or less. Expect the fog to dissipate by 8 am. Slow down and have your headlights on if you encounter the fog.
