At 616 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7 miles southeast of Claresville, or 8 miles west of Boykins, moving north at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Reduced visibility and minor flooding possible. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of northeastern Northampton, Greensville, southern Southampton and southwestern Sussex Counties and the City of Emporia, including the following locations... Vicksville, Adams Grove, Grizzard, Lanes Corner, Yale, Bryants Corner, Emporia Reservoir, Worrell, Cowie Corner, and Hilda.

Coastal Flood Advisory issued September 12 at 12:40PM EDT until September 13 at 1:00AM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC

* WHAT...Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...The lower Cape Fear River including downtown Wilmington. * WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 1 AM EDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...The lowest portions of USS North Carolina Road and Battleship Road will begin to observe minor coastal flooding. Water will spread out of storm drains onto Water Street just south of Market Street in downtown Wilmington.

When a severe thunderstorm warning is issued, the storm may produce damaging winds, large hail, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain. In some cases, heavy rainfall produced by a severe storm can also lead to flash flooding. Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water depth or fast flowing water/mud/debris from a flash flood will make road conditions unsafe.
