Flood Warning

Flood Warning issued May 10 at 5:51AM AST until May 10 at 12:00PM AST by NWS San Juan PR

* WHAT...Flooding caused by flood waters from Rio Culebrinas. * WHERE...A portion of Puerto Rico, including the following counties, Aguada, Aguadilla, Moca and San Sebastian. * WHEN...Until noon AST Friday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. Local media have reported water rescues. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 551 AM AST, river gauge reports along Rio Culebrinas at Moca has dropped below action stage (15 feet), now around 11.15 feet. However, flood waters are still affecting road PR-418 between Aguada and Aguadilla. For that reason, the Flood Warning has been extended. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Rio Grande de Anasco, Canal Principal De Diversion, Rio Guatemala, Rio Culebrinas, Rio Canas, Rio Ingenio, Rio Grande de Anasco Watershed, Rio Culebra, Rio Sonador, Rio Guajataca and Coastal Watershed. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

* WHAT...Flooding caused by flood waters from Rio Guanajibo. * WHERE...Cabo Rojo, Hormigueros and Mayaguez. * WHEN...Until noon AST Friday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 542 AM AST, river gauge reports along Rio Guanajibo at Hormigueros continues above action stage (16 feet), now around 18.73 feet. Flood waters are still affecting portions of roads PR-114 in Hormigueros. For that reason, the Flood Warning has been extended. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Rio Hondo, Rio Viejo, Coastal Watershed North of Rio Guanajibo mouth, Rio Guanajibo and Rio Rosario_Guanajibo Watershed. Rip Current Statement issued May 10 at 4:14AM AST until May 10 at 6:00PM AST by NWS San Juan PR

* WHAT...Life-threatening rip currents due to breaking waves around 6 feet. * WHERE...Beaches along the northern coastline of Puerto Rico, from Aguadilla to Fajardo. * WHEN...Through 6 PM AST Friday. * IMPACTS...Rip currents that can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water where it becomes difficult to return to safety.
