As showers continue to move across the area, brief gusty winds up to and in excess of 40 mph may be experienced. Strongest wind reports this evening have been in excess of 50 mph and have caused tree damage. These are being driven by evaporative cooling as rain falls through very dry air below it. These wind gusts are likely to continue until shower activity begins to subside later this evening.
