Special Weather Statement

Special Weather Statement issued February 28 at 1:13AM CST by NWS La Crosse WI

A strong cold front continues through western Wisconsin early this morning. An accompanying band of enhanced snowfall with winds in excess of 40 mph are causing rapid reductions in visibilities. Drifting snow is perpetuating snow covered roadways. Combined with temperatures quickly dropping below freezing, ongoing slippery conditions are expected to last through the early morning hours. If you are traveling early this morning, be prepared for rapid reductions in visibility, snow covered roads, and drifting snow in strong, northwest winds. As temperatures quickly drop, roads may remain slippery after initial snowfall. Reduce your speed and maintain extra space between yourself and the car in front of you.
