CONUS — We've got some wet and warm weather stories to share for the next few days. Eastern Texas and Eastern Oklahoma are facing more rain, shifting to the Gulf Coast and Southeast later. Meanwhile, California is heating up, with temperatures soaring across the western U.S.
Rainy Days in Texas and Beyond
Today and tonight, look out for heavy rain from Eastern Texas to Eastern Oklahoma around a stationary front. Expect several inches of rain, leading to potential flooding. As we move into the weekend, a tropical wave will stir up more showers and thunderstorms along the Gulf Coast, with rain totals reaching a few inches near coastal areas. By Sunday, the wet weather will shift into the Southeast.
Heatwave Alert in California
While the south deals with rain, the west faces an October heatwave. Central and Southern California will see the hottest day on Saturday, with temperatures 15-20 degrees above normal. Coastal areas could hit the 90s, while valleys might reach up to 107°F. Heat will spread northeast into the Great Basin, with highs in the 80s and near 90 degrees.
Cooler Weather Up North
Up north, from the Upper Midwest to the Northeast, expect cooler and drier conditions. Freeze Warnings and Frost Advisories are in effect near the Canadian border. As a cold front passes, it'll bring fall-like temperatures. Showers will move through the Midwest and Northeast today, reaching the Mid-Atlantic by Saturday and continuing into Sunday.
