CONUS — We're seeing quite a bit of rain in Northern and Central Florida, with potential for flash flooding as showers and storms hang around. Meanwhile, Central and Southern California will continue to experience a heatwave, with temperatures hitting the 90s and even reaching the 100s in some areas. The Great Lakes and Northeast are feeling a cool autumn breeze. This pattern is due to a cold front and high pressure system moving in.
Florida: Persistent Rain and Possible Flooding
For those in Orlando,FL and Jacksonville,FL, be prepared for more rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. We can expect an inch or more of rainfall each day, which might lead to flash flooding in some spots. Keep those umbrellas handy!
California: Heatwave Continues
Residents in Los Angeles,CA and San Diego,CA, we’re looking at a continued heatwave for Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures will soar into the 90s, even reaching the lower 100s in places like the Central Valley. Keep cool and hydrated!
Northeast: Autumn Chill
In New York,NY and Boston,MA, a cool autumn air is settling in for Tuesday and Wednesday. Expect temperatures in the 50s and 60s, with morning lows in the 30s and 40s. We could see some frost, so take care of your plants and crops. A cold front might bring showers to interior New England early Thursday.
Midwest: Cool and Dry
For the Midwest, including Detroit,MI and Chicago,IL, Tuesday and Wednesday will bring cool, dry weather. Highs will be in the 60s and 70s, with a brisk autumn feel. Swings in temperature due to a cold front will bring some areas to the upper 30s at night.
Southeast: Warming Up Mid-Week
After a brief cool down, those in Atlanta,GA and Charlotte,NC will notice warmer temperatures returning by Wednesday and Thursday, with highs back in the 80s.
Tropical Update
Finally, keep an eye to the tropics as there's potential for tropical cyclone development in the Southwestern Gulf. Some storms may approach Coastal Louisiana by early Thursday.
