The northern U.S. will experience some wet and unstable weather, while folks in the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys should brace for rain and storms tonight. Meanwhile, a chill is coming to the Great Plains and Mississippi Valley this weekend, bringing frigid air and possibly some snow.

Northern Tier Awaits Unsettled Weather

A system over southern Hudson Bay will send waves of weather changes through the central to eastern U.S. From today onward, expect scattered to isolated thunderstorms in the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys. There's a slight risk for severe weather, which means a few storms could be on the stronger side. The Northeast and Mid-Atlantic might see rain showers, and there could even be a mix of rain and snow in parts of northern New Hampshire and northern Maine tonight. By Saturday and Sunday, an Arctic front will bring more rain and storms to the East Coast, along with a rain-snow mix in the Midwest.

Frigid Air for the Plains and Mississippi Valley

A low-pressure system will spread mixed weather across the Northwest today, moving into the Northern/Central Plains and the Great Lakes/Midwest over the weekend. Behind this system, strong winds will carry cold air from Canada into the Great Plains and the Mississippi Valley starting Saturday. Expect the chill to settle in, making it quite cold!

Warm Start in Texas, But Cooler Weather Ahead

In Texas, relatively stable weather will keep temperatures warm through Saturday, with highs possibly reaching the 80s and 90s. This could be 10-20 degrees above what's typical, and some areas might even break high-temperature records. However, as the Arctic front moves through on Sunday, expect temperatures to drop.
