Winter Weather Hits Hard: Snow and Cold Across the U.S.
CONUS — Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! We're seeing Michigan to New York facing significant snow due to lake effect. Expect over a foot in some places, and with winds gusting over 40 mph, travel will be tough through early Saturday. Keep an eye on those lake effect and blizzard warnings, especially near lakes Erie and Ontario.
Cold Blast for the Eastern U.S.
The Eastern U.S. is swapping out mild weather for a chilly Canadian airmass just in time for Thanksgiving. Temps will drop 5 to 15 degrees below normal. It’ll feel more like January, so bundle up!
Wet and Snowy for the Pacific Northwest
Out west, a low-pressure system is bringing rain and mountain snow to Washington and Oregon on Thanksgiving, moving into the Rockies by Friday. Expect a few inches of rain in lower areas and up to 2 feet of snow in higher spots. Things should clear up by early Saturday.
Major Winter Storm for the Northern Plains and Midwest
Another storm is brewing over the northern Plains as cold air mixes with Pacific energy. Starting Friday and into Saturday, widespread snow is expected. Montana to the western Great Lakes could see 6 to 12 inches of snow, with a mix of wintry conditions stretching as far south as Missouri to Indiana. Prepare for serious travel disruptions, folks!
