Tropical Weather Update: 08-27 to 08-29

Dry Weather Stays in Mexico and Central America

Tropical Storm Belt — For the next three days, Mexico and northern parts of Central America will experience dry conditions. An area of high pressure, called a ridge, will keep things dry by pushing away clouds and moisture. Even with some tropical movements, expect little to no rain.

Caribbean Showers on the Horizon

An upper level low-pressure system and a tropical wave will bring some rain to the eastern Caribbean, especially the Windward Islands, with 5-10 mm of rain expected. Areas like the Leeward Islands and ABC Islands will see limited rain due to dry air. Showers may increase in the Greater Antilles by Friday and Saturday due to enhanced upward motion and local terrain effects.

South Central America Experiencing Some Rain

Dry air is making its way into parts of eastern and central Amazon and into Venezuela and the Guianas. However, in areas like Costa Rica, Panama, and western Colombia, expect moderate rain daily, increasing over time due to moisture and terrain interactions.
