Rain, Thunderstorms, and Tropical Activity from the Caribbean to South America from 09-01 to 09-05

The Bahamas and Caribbean

Tropical Storm Belt — For those of us in the Caribbean, we're looking at some rain and thunderstorms, especially over Eastern Cuba and Hispaniola today, thanks to some high-level winds and low-pressure areas working together. This means the weather will stay active over Cuba through Thursday. On Hispaniola, expect thunderstorms from Thursday into Friday as a weather system near Puerto Rico moves west. Puerto Rico itself will see some rain today, but showers will become less frequent by Wednesday, though a new tropical wave might bring more rain by the end of the week.

Mexico and Central America

In Mexico, especially in Baja California Sur, rain is on the agenda today through Wednesday due to Tropical Storm Marie bringing moisture from the Pacific. Rainfall across the Sierra Madre Occidental will be notable, with showers and thunderstorms expected. Central America won't be left out, as a tropical wave brings rain to Nicaragua today, and moisture from the Pacific increases rain chances over El Salvador, Western Guatemala, and Chiapas, Mexico.

Tropical South America

Across Colombia, Venezuela, and the Brazilian Amazon, daily thunderstorms are likely due to warm air rising and moisture moving in. Colombia and Venezuela will see more intense rain through Wednesday, with northern Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago also getting wet due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone. As we move towards Thursday and Friday, rain will shift toward eastern Venezuela, particularly the Canaima and Orinoquia regions.
