Tropical Waves on the Move: 09-08 to 09-11

Tropical Storm Belt — We're closely monitoring several tropical waves impacting different regions this week. These waves are areas of low pressure that move across the tropics and can bring increased cloudiness and precipitation. The movement of these waves might influence our weather through September 11th. Below we've detailed each wave's trajectory and impact. Stay informed and prepared!

Caribbean and Atlantic Overview

Across the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, we have several tropical waves making their way westward:

  • The wave at 17N, starting at 35W, will travel from the eastern Atlantic towards the Caribbean Sea by September 10, moving to 54W by the 11th.
  • The wave at 20N, beginning at 49W, will be reaching 70W near the Caribbean Islands by the 11th.
  • Meanwhile, a wave at 08N starts at 58W, reaching as far as 81W through the Caribbean Sea by the end of the period.

Central America and Eastern Pacific

In the Eastern Pacific and Central America, additional tropical waves are expected:

  • A wave at 13N, which starts at 86W, will move across Central America, reaching 106W by the 11th.
  • Another wave at 11N will advance from 96W to 114W, impacting parts of Central America and the Eastern Pacific.
  • The wave at 20N, starting at 107W, will exit the region by September 10.
