At 547 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7 miles east of Morganton, or near Valdese, moving southwest at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Morganton, Valdese, Drexel, Connelly Springs, Rutherford College, Casar, South Mountains State Park, Icard, Lake Rhodhiss, and Belwood.

* WHAT....Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...The beaches of Currituck County. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
