At 400 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 5 miles southwest of Spruce Pine. This storm was nearly stationary. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Spruce Pine, B.R. Parkway-Little Switzerland To Linville, B.R. Parkway-Craggy To Little Switzerland, Celo, Little Switzerland, and Woodlawn.

Coastal Flood Advisory issued May 5 at 2:59PM EDT until May 5 at 10:00PM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC

* WHAT...Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...The lower Cape Fear River including downtown Wilmington. * WHEN...From 7 PM to 10 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...The lowest portions of USS North Carolina Road and Battleship Road begin to observe minor coastal flooding. Water begins to spread out of storm drains onto Water Street just south of Market Street in downtown Wilmington. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Affected areas listed are based on average tide conditions. Additional locations may experience flooding during periods of heavy rainfall, high winds, or other factors.
