When a severe thunderstorm warning is issued, the storm may produce damaging winds, large hail, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain. ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR SOUTH AND EAST FACING SHORES THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON... Southerly swells from Hurricane Lowell will keep surf elevated above High Surf Advisory conditions through Sunday. A forecasted northward turn will cause an increase in swell potentially to warning levels by Monday. A large, medium-period east swell from Hurricane Karina will also persist through at least Sunday, producing advisory level surf along east facing shores. * WHAT...Surf up to 14 feet along east facing shores. Surf up to 12 feet along south facing shores, increasing to 14 feet by Sunday afternoon. Surf up to 8 feet along west facing shores of the Big Island. * WHERE...South and east facing shores of all Hawaiian Islands... and west facing shores of the Big Island. * WHEN...Until 6 PM HST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Moderate. Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous.
