Coastal Flood Advisory

Coastal Flood Advisory issued March 29 at 5:03AM EDT until March 29 at 2:00PM EDT by NWS Newport/Morehead City NC

* WHAT...Seas have fallen generally to 4 to 6 ft across our waters as of this morning and are forecast to continue to lower so the high surf advisory has been cancelled. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, up to one to two feet of inundation above ground level expected in sound-side low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...Areas along the Pamlico Sound, on Hatteras Island. * WHEN...Until 2 PM EDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Up to 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways resulting in a low threat of property damage. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes adjacent to the waterfront will experience shallow flooding. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion.

Great Pee Dee River At Pee Dee affecting Marion and Florence Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Cape Fear River at William O Huske Lock And Dam 3. * WHEN...From Friday afternoon to late Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...At 45.0 feet, Flood waters will affect lowlands along the east bank of the river with some minor overflow along the west bank. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:00 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 36.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 44.7 feet Saturday morning.
