Flood Advisory issued May 10 at 2:12AM HST until May 10 at 5:00AM HST by NWS Honolulu HI

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall. * WHERE...The island of Oahu in Honolulu County. * WHEN...Until 500 AM HST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 211 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over windward Oahu between Kaaawa and Turtle Bay. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Area streams are also rising rapidly.

Special Weather Statement issued May 9 at 4:51PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI

An unusually strong upper level disturbance moving over the state will bring the possibility strong to severe thunderstorms, which could produce damaging winds and large hail. The greatest chance for severe thunderstorms will occur during the day Friday through Friday evening. Listen for later statements, as well as possible watches and warnings, as this event becomes more clear. For details on the potential for flash flooding, please see the Flood Watch (FFAHFO) that is currently in effect for the entire State of Hawaii through 6 AM Saturday.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON FRIDAY TO 6 AM HST SATURDAY FOR THE BIG ISLAND SUMMITS... * WHAT...Heavy snow and very strong winds expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 6 inches. Winds gusting over 70 mph. * WHERE...Big Island Summits. * WHEN...From noon Friday to 6 AM HST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility at times, with periods of zero visibility.

...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM FRIDAY TO 6 AM HST SATURDAY FOR BIG ISLAND SUMMITS... * WHAT...Southwest winds 40 to 60 mph with localized gusts over 70 mph expected. * WHERE...Big Island Summits. * WHEN...From 6 AM Friday to 6 AM HST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Winds this strong can make driving and walking dangerous. The winds can forcefully open doors and damage hinges or slam doors shut, possibly causing injuries.

Flood Watch issued May 9 at 3:42PM HST until May 11 at 6:00AM HST by NWS Honolulu HI

...FLOOD WATCH FOR THE STATE OF HAWAII THROUGH 6 AM SATURDAY... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...All the main Hawaiian islands. * WHEN...Through late Friday night. * IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff. Remember, flash flooding can occur well downstream. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A strong upper level disturbance will bring heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms tonight through Friday and Friday night. The heaviest downpours will be hit or miss, but where they do occur, they will be capable of producing rainfall rates in excess of 3 inches per hour. The threat for flash flooding is expected to be the greatest Friday through Friday evening. Conditions should steadily improve from west to east late Friday into Saturday.

Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous.
