An approaching upper level storm system will increase our winds on Saturday, they will likely not be as strong as we saw on Thursday. But our dry conditions will continue with min RH in the lowlands of New Mexico and far west Texas near 10%. The combination of low min RH's and strong winds will lead to critical fire weather conditions Saturday afternoon. * WIND...West to southwest at 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 55 mph. * HUMIDITY...7 to 15 percent. * EXPERIMENTAL RFTI...For Saturday, 5 to 6 Critical in Southern New Mexico and Far West Texas desert lowlands. * IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FOR FRIDAY FROM 1 PM MDT UNTIL 8 PM MDT FOR EASTERN NEW MEXICO AND THE MIDDLE RIO GRANDE VALLEY DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND VERY LOW HUMIDITY... .Critical fire weather conditions return across portions of central New Mexico and all of eastern New Mexico behind Thursday's disturbance. Gusty west winds will meet with minimum relative humidity in the low double digits in the afternoon, with conditions tapering off in the evening. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning...which is in effect from 1 PM to 8 PM MDT Friday. Expect minor flooding downstream from the dam. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Rio Chama below Chamita. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 6.0 feet, PROPERTIES IN FLOOD PLAIN ALONG RIO CHAMA AND NEAR THE JUNCTION OF RIO OJO CALIENTE WILL SEE WATER IN THEIR YARDS. BANK EROSION IS POSSIBLE. DAMAGE TO WELLS AND SEPTIC TANKS IS POSSIBLE. HOUSES NEAR HIGHWAY 84 ALONG RIVER WILL SEE WATER BEGIN TO ENCROACH THEIR YARDS. CATTLE THAT WANDER ACROSS THE RIVER AT LOWER FLOWS WILL BE TRAPPED ON THE OTHER SIDE.
