Due to ongoing drought and lack of rainfall, critical fire weather conditions are reached at relative humidity values of 30% or less. * Affected Area...North Georgia including the following: Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union,Towns, Chattooga, Gordon, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Floyd, Bartow, Cherokee, and Polk. * Timing...Noon to 8 PM Monday * Winds...10 to 15 mph; with gusts to 20 to 25 mph. * Relative Humidity...Less than 30% * Temperatures...80 to 85 degrees * Impacts...With elevated winds and low relative humidities, critical fire weather conditions are possible. The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind, dry fuels, and low relative humidity, which is in effect from noon today until 8 PM EDT this evening. * AFFECTED AREA...Rabun and Habersham. * TIMING...From noon today until 8 PM EDT this evening. * WINDS...Southwest 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. * HUMIDITY...As low as 25 percent. * FUEL MOISTURE...low * IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Relative humidity values of 30 percent or less and winds up to 15 mph are expected this afternoon. Given the dry vegetation and ongoing drought conditions, fires will be able to spread quickly once started. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities regarding whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution as fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
