* WHAT...For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 15 below expected. For the Extreme Cold Watch, dangerously cold wind chills ranging from 15 below to 30 below. * WHERE...Sheridan and Gove Counties. * WHEN...For the Cold Weather Advisory, from midnight tonight to noon CST Monday. For the Extreme Cold Watch, from Monday evening through Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia may occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Wind chill values may fall to extremely dangerous levels. An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.

For the Extreme Cold Watch, dangerously cold wind chills as ranging from 15 below to 30 below zero. * WHERE...Portions of east central Colorado, northwest and west central Kansas, and southwest Nebraska. * WHEN...For the Cold Weather Advisory, from 11 PM MST /midnight CST/ this evening to 11 AM MST /noon CST/ Monday. For the Extreme Cold Watch, from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia may occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Young or smaller animals are at greatest risk for frostbite and hypothermia. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Cloud cover tonight is forecast to decrease during the morning hours Monday. If the cloud cover can end quicker then even colder than forecasted wind chills and temperatures are possible. Those in the deepest snow pack across Kit Carson and Cheyenne counties in Colorado may locally colder than 24 below zero wind chills but the coverage of this at this time looks to be limited. Monday night and Tuesday morning continue to look to be the coldest of the event.

Winter Weather Advisory

Winter Weather Advisory issued January 19 at 1:59AM CST until January 20 at 6:00PM CST by NWS Dodge City KS

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to two inches. * WHERE...Portions of south central, southwest, and west central Kansas. * WHEN...From 3 AM CST /2 AM MST/ to 6 PM CST /5 PM MST/ Monday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. The snow will be drier due to the arctic airmass and with lighter winds the snow should stick to the roads pretty effectively leading to slick spots and minor traffic impacts.
