Lake Elsinore Warnings, Watches and Advisories

When a severe thunderstorm warning is issued, the storm may produce damaging winds, large hail, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain. In some cases, heavy rainfall produced by a severe storm can also lead to flash flooding. Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water depth or fast flowing water/mud/debris from a flash flood will make road conditions unsafe. We may provide a wider range of issued severe weather warnings for surrounding cities and counties, so some alerts may not directly impact this location. This is done to help with preparing for severe weather that may overlap or be heading towards Lake Elsinore.

High Surf Advisory issued July 19 at 8:19PM PDT until July 21 at 11:00PM PDT by NWS San Diego CA

* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 4 to 7 feet with sets up to 8 feet at south or southwest facing beaches. * WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas and Orange County Coastal Areas. * WHEN...Until 11 PM PDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...South swell of 4 to 5 feet with a period of 12-13 seconds generating high surf, primarily for south- facing beaches. High risk of rip currents exists with high surf and strong longshore currents are expected on west-facing beaches. High tides will generally be at or below 5.5 feet, but localized areas of beach erosion and minor tidal overflow may occur with the high surf during high tides. Swell and surf will decrease late Tuesday into Wednesday.

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents and breaking waves due to elevated surf expected. * WHERE...San Luis Obispo County Beaches and Santa Barbara County Central Coast Beaches. * WHEN...From 5 PM PDT this afternoon through Tuesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Highest surf will be focused across south facing beaches due to a southerly swell produced by Tropical Storm Elida. Additional Beach Hazards Statements or High Surf Advisories will likely be needed through the rest of the week due to a series of incoming southerly swells.

Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Highest surf will be focused across south facing beaches due to a southerly swell produced by Tropical Storm Elida. Additional Beach Hazards Statements or High Surf Advisories will likely be needed through the rest of the week due to a series of incoming southerly swells.

Red Flag Warning issued July 19 at 3:37PM PDT until July 20 at 6:00PM PDT by NWS Eureka CA

The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 9 PM this evening to 6 PM PDT Monday. * AFFECTED AREA...Interior Humboldt County, Trinity County, and southwestern Siskiyou County. * THUNDERSTORMS...Isolated dry thunderstorms tonight into Monday afternoon. Confidence is highest tonight but some activity may continue into the afternoon. * OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusty and erratic outflow winds of up to 30 mph is possible. * IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Flood Watch issued July 19 at 11:41AM PDT until July 20 at 11:00PM PDT by NWS Reno NV

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible due to thunderstorms. * WHERE...Portions of east central California, including the following area, Mono County and western Nevada, including the following area, Mineral and Southern Lyon Counties. * WHEN...From Monday afternoon through Monday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, urban areas, burn scars, and areas near steep terrain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Deeper monsoonal moisture combined with daytime heating will produce scattered thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening.
